Location

We are situated in a perfect location in order to discover the wonders of the Dordogne.  There are numerous restaurants, vineyards, markets and beautiful bastide towns on our doorstep, you will be spoilt for choice about what to visit first.

We are only a 10 minute drive from our local town of Sigoules, where you will find the supermarket Carrefour and fuel station, tabac, boulangerie, pharmacie, ATM machine, post office, restaurants, bars, hairdressers and beauty salon. 

​

The main town of Bergerac is only a 15-20 minute drive and has all the amenities that a larger town offers.  The old town of Bergerac is highly recommended for a visit especially to sample its vast selection of restaurants and historic buildings.

  • Cycling - there are a couple of cycle hire shops close to us in Eymet and Bergerac

  • Games and acitivites for the children (little and big) - Chateau de Bridoire

  • Golf - Chateau Vigiers which is within the top 100 courses in France and has 27 holes, Golf de Villeneuve sur Lot, Golf Club de Saint Meard du Gurcon, Golf Barthe, Golf du Chateau Les Merles, Golf Marmande or Grand Saint-Emilion Golf Club

  • Horse riding - Cheval 24, Ecurie de Serres

  • Stand up paddle - Lac de L'Escourou

  • Swimming - there are a couple of lakes or river access where swimming is permitted and lifeguards are provided during the peak season.  The closest is Lac de Pombonne in Bergerac, where you will find a lovely sandy beach area and shallow swimming/paddling areas which is perfect for little ones.  In the summer months you will also be able to benefit from the Guinguette de Pombonne (restaurant), which is highly recommended.

Markets

Traditional market days in France is one of the most popular activities and is a must on any trip to France.  They have, very often, been held in the same place, each week for hundreds of years.  There is a vast range of local produce sold along with lots of other interesting items and local artisan products.  We are very fortunate to have several on our doorstep, including:

  • Bergerac market - every Wednesday and Saturday

  • Eymet market - every Thursday

  • Issigeac market - every Sunday and is renowned for being one of the ten best food markets in France!

  • Monpazier market - every Thursday

​

Night markets/ marche nocturne/ gourmand.

​

These are held in the evenings of summer months only and specialise on eating outside, very often with live entertainment too.  They have a great, relaxed and safe atmosphere where you choose your food and drink from market stalls which surround the central square, set up with tables and chairs for you to enjoy the atmosphere - which is fantastic and highly recommended.  Locally, there is a market every night of the week in a different location:
